A splash of modernity in the historic interior of the Casimir palace in Warsaw.
All thanks to the renovation of the attic, which was carried out in 2023. The rooms after renovation, serve as conference rooms. This is an important step in the further development of the University of Warsaw, which houses the headquarters of the university’s rectorate and authorities. The last renovation of the building was carried out in 2005.
The general contractor, the Warsaw-based company “Amat” Zbigniew Hordyj, used about 300 m2 of Alufire joinery for the interior adaptation. Three types of systems were used: Alufire Vision Line (AVL), Alufire Classic Line and Alufire Office Line. The joinery for this project was either EI30 or without fire resistance. Additionally, due to the educational function of the premises, solutions with high acoustic parameters were also chosen.
The Casimir – Kazimierzowski Palace, which dates back to 1637, is the oldest building of all those owned by the University of Warsaw. It was built for use as a royal villa. In this particular palace lived kings such as Jan Kazimierz, Jan III Sobieski, August II and August III. The educational mission carried out in the Palace by the University of Warsaw authorities is a continuation of the historical legacy. Between 1765 and 1794, the Knights’ School founded by Stanislaw August Poniatowski operated there. One of its alumni was Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The building came into the hands of the Royal University of Warsaw in 1816. Unfortunately, during World War II it was completely destroyed in a bombing. In 1954, its reconstruction was completed. The overriding goal was to restore it faithfully, and to preserve this character with each subsequent renovation.
